Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer continue partnership with St Andrews' Law Review for Second Year

This comes at an especially significant moment for the firm, following the landmark merger between Herbert Smith Freehills and Kramer in May 2025. Now known as Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, the firm combines the global strength and innovation of Herbert Smith Freehills with Kramer’s established reputation, creating a powerhouse of legal expertise with an expanded international reach.

As part of this year’s partnership, we are pleased to welcome Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer to St Andrews for an Insight Series. This programme will comprise workshops designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the highly competitive legal recruitment process.

Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer is an internationally recognised law firm with a reputation for excellence in litigation, dispute resolution, corporate law, and a wide range of other practice areas. With more than 100 years of history, a newly expanded global network, and a sustained commitment to client service, the firm continues to stand at the forefront of the legal profession.

The Insight Series will provide St Andrews students with the unique opportunity to gain first-hand understanding of the application process, assessment stages, and life as a trainee solicitor at a leading international firm. Delivered by Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer’s trainees and recruitment specialists, the workshops will focus on practical guidance, professional insight, and tailored support to help aspiring lawyers distinguish themselves in applications and interviews.

This initiative builds on Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer’s broad range of early career opportunities, which include solicitor apprenticeships, open days, first-year workshops, vacation schemes, and a digital legal delivery graduate programme. By bringing these workshops directly to St Andrews, the firm demonstrates its continuing commitment to widening access to the legal profession and supporting students from diverse academic backgrounds.
